New Year Resolution?

Hope you had a lovely holiday time with your chosen loved ones, having fun and eating too much! Now most of us must return to our normal lives.
New Years resolutions ~ the promises we make to ourselves on the 1st of January, are long forgotten by the end of the week if not the next day. Resolutions are part of the rituals, the fun of a new year. How many of us have made a resolution to lose weight, be a better person, to not drink so much perhaps, and then fall off the wagon and then hate ourselves for doing so. Seems to me, resolutions are the annual setting ourselves up to fail. I know, I've been there.
Not this year though, I've decided new years resolutions are nonsense ~ what a spoilsport I am! Maybe, but I don't think new year is necessarily the best time to do it ~ too much pressure to conform, if you're being serious about your intentions. It smacks somehow of thinking ourselves as only flawed beings and the need to improve ourselves in order to fit a so called perfect world. The thing is, we shouldn't need New Year to promise ourselves to do better. Any day is the right day to change how you see yourself. Small steps or a giant leap? You decide and don't defend.
